About Gore-Tex

Gore-Tex is a brand name for a waterproof, windproof, and breathable fabric membrane made from expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE). It was developed by Wilbert Gore and his son Robert Gore in 1969. The membrane has approximately 9 billion pores per square inch, each 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet but 700 times larger than a water vapour molecule, allowing moisture to escape while keeping rain out.
