Modal

regenerated

Also known as: HWM Rayon, Modal, Modalfaser

High-quality regenerated cellulose fibre from beech wood. Softer and more durable than viscose.

About Modal

Modal is a type of rayon (regenerated cellulose fibre) made from beech tree pulp. It was developed in the 1950s and is considered a higher-quality alternative to standard viscose. Modal is significantly softer than viscose, more durable when wet, and retains its softness after repeated washing. It is often used in underwear, loungewear, and activewear. The Lenzing company's TENCEL Modal is a well-known sustainable version.
